Photovoltaic System Design
Designing a photovoltaic installation requires more than placing panels on a roof. Engineers need to account for shading from surrounding buildings and obstacles, optimize panel orientation for maximum energy yield, and produce complete electrical documentation — all while working within the physical constraints of the site. Traditional 2D tools cannot capture this complexity.
We developed BlueSol, a full 3D design environment for photovoltaic systems. The software allows engineers to model the installation site, place and arrange panels, and run accurate shading simulations based on the sun’s path throughout the year. It generates surface irradiation maps to identify the best module placement, handles 3D cable and device routing, produces single-line electrical diagrams, and supports DWG import/export for integration with existing CAD workflows.
BlueSol has been adopted by photovoltaic designers and engineering firms, giving them a single tool that covers the entire design process — from site analysis and layout optimization to production-ready documentation.
